The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek, meaning "a woman who serves," and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.

Assists the woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth.

If you're not yet sure if you want to hire a doula, you may schedule a 60 minute, FREE consultation, and get all the information you'll need to make the right decision for you.
Need more, but still not sure? Ask for my 2-hour Evidenced Based Birth Plan Session. There is no commitment to hire me as your doula, and you will have the beneit of solid evidence to design your ideal birth, whether you'll be laboring at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital. The Session costs $50, and if you do decide to hire me, (I'm not available if you've already contracted with another doula) it will be deducted from your final balance!
